Danzig @ Phoenix, AZ 2025-03-30 (and commentary on the Forum show)

I just don't have anything anniversary wise or new transfers to offer today. If I have any new transfers they will be available Friday. I was hoping to have a different Danzig show available but it didn't quite work out that way.

When I saw Danzig was playing the Forum of all places I knew there would be bargains galore. Talking about an obvious overbooking. But of course your typical experienced ticket broker would know better than to buy in on that mess so that means any discounts would only be available through official channels and in the lot.

As anticipated there were discounts. But it was mainly lowering the already exorbitant top price to something only slightly less ridiculous while keeping the bottom tier at $52.70. And then there was a quite tolerable single unit price of $29.50 but only as part of a 4 pack. I was not going to be responsible for moving the other 3. The promoter also possibly split the GA floor from the pit post-sale, then allowed paid upgrades including a Ticketmaster $10 change fee. Then lowered the pit price to what GA floor originally was. The promoter (NOT LiveNation who probably won't even deal with anything not called Misfits) is an idiot.

Day of rolls around and I am just dragging. Start thinking about lunch, then realize if I am going to make it time for Cro-Mags I better get going now. So I make lunch, eat it and then complete the pending blog postings before heading out the door for the every 15 minute bus only the next one is experiencing delays which have a cascading effect across all connecting lines.

Finally get there at 5:30. Doors at 5 and show at 6. You always have to be there by doors lest your ticket go in without you. The upper deck is curtained off and maybe only half the seats are sold. Danzig fans only awake after sunset or sneak off after mom passes out so maybe a hundred people trickled past before I heard Cro-Mags go on and decided to just split for a different event.

Maybe if I got there earlier, maybe if I positioned myself by the GA entrance, maybe if I wasn't so cheap, maybe if I had better role models growing up I would have treated it like the joke it is and mowed the lawn instead.

I don't know that I have ever heard of Abbath and I don't know that I ever heard a single note of Down. So I may not have I wanted to sit thru them and I certainly couldn't stand on concrete for 5 hours. Minus Cro-Mags I felt no desire to buy a ticket. I would have accepted a free one but I wasn't going to beg for it.

So I just split for a different event, a party really, where a musician I like was listed on the flyer. I show up ready to get down with some tunes but instead it was a spoken word presentation of a story I never wanted to hear, possibly even more horrifying than blatant Nazi imagery at the Danzig merch stand.

However the resulting non-controversy might work in his favor as it's most relevant he's been since his breakout role in The Northside Kings Story. Putting out a statement "I am not a Nazi, it's the my heart goes out to you symbol **nod nod wink wink**" might be his best career move in this environment. He can't sell dick outside the coasts but might still get a slot on the next All My Rowdy Friends Are Here tour.

This does sounds like a good show if a little sparse for what they are charging. And I had no idea Karl Rosqvist was back on drums. He is jumping right over to the Michael Monroe tour. Real cool dude when I chatted a few times way back when I was going to multiple shows in 2010. Will I be going to multiple shows in 2025? Probably not.

Enjoy!
