This was pretty much of a spur of the moment trip. I really wanted to go to London for Jesus Jones and maybe catch a Suede show but just couldn't pull it off so about a week before wheels up I started researching this one in earnest.

The last two shows were the most impossible, this one logistically and the other was just a tough ticket where even at 600-1006$ (yeah I know there was a smattering of cheaper ones no one ever saw) sold out with only platinums and resales that rarely came down in price.

I was researching public transportation (none), the 2020 shuttles were canceled and refunded, and was inquiring about increasingly remote possibilities on a fan board when someone posted he was looking for other fans to pitch in for his parking pass. Contacted him, sounded legit and booked the trip based on that. He was a true concert pro who understood the challenges this show presented and the importance of leaving early, then just chilling out and waiting for the doors to open without having to scramble or stress. Also decided to just spring for a seat I saw rather than panhandle a Lucky Dip or deal with a GA ticket.

This venue was totally unsuitable for an event of this size. It was maybe 8 miles from the airport but with only one and two lane roads leading in and no real options other than driving in. I could see the lights backed up for miles around even past showtime and so many never even made it in and the lady next to me spent so much on Uber and accommodations she wished she booked Florida instead.

Got there early enough to get to hear the soundcheck with Rocks Off, which never made it into the set.

But it was a pretty good show, tho Keith had just enough issues that made hitting the Hollywood, FL show in spite of any past committments to never spending premium prices on a ticket for anything, ever, even more urgent.

And these are the spontaneous notes I wrote during soundcheck:

The thing about hearing soundcheck is I think I know the setlist.

The police escort rolled up (Ronnie window down and waving) a minute later they were playing

Let It Bleed x 2
It's Only Rock N Roll
Rocks Off

bits and pieces of

Living In A Ghost Town
Gimme Shelter

all of You Got The Silver (2021 debut if they play it)

Midnight Rambler with some harmonica then jamming with no vocals

Then a few more Ghost Town fragments, maybe just Keith n Steve

Then, and this is unusual, they leave again and catch a close up of Mick behind tinted windows.

When I say this out loud the guard at the gate tells me they have a Covid bubble backstage area at the local amphitheatre nearby.
