Day 2 Pasadena Flea Market Live Music Edition

Again internals. I don't have windscreens and the air must be completely still. Also I just wanted to have a good time and not suffer so much to get a recording I will never listen to, especially not with so many tapers already rolling.

Much looser atmosphere than Saturday. Free parking. Everyone in line with extra tickets to give away. Got a few people on board telling them a payday loan wasn't going to be necessary to experience the magic. Brought the El Yucateco again but never had a chance to break it out.

Iggy's arms are bony and he seems to have recently traded that six pack for a wrinkled gunt but he still shamelessly rips his shirt off to show his battle scars of decades of hard living. He isn't quite at the level of 60 year old Iggy but he is working hard to be as much Iggy as he can possibly be. And it just seems so natural seeing him rock out to a crowded field instead of the larger clubs.

I guess he fired the second rate hacks he had last month and hired some new kids and I must say it's for the better. Shook up the set a bit too.

But where did that guitar player get that T-shirt? I came to the Pasadena flea market and that was the only one I saw I wanted. Now I did see a dude with a Fang T shirt. I yelled is that a Fang T shirt? Dude turned around and almost ran. I even yelled YOU WIN! Yeah everybody thinks they got the best shirt until someone actually recognizes the band.

I did see an ALLSAINTS shirt and just had to chat them up. They had a stroller. In case you want to know what kind of people bring toddlers to a festival. ALLSAINTS fans. I found an ALLSAINTS shirt but I didn't find a booty call.

I went in with my companions, who love going to concerts but only make a few a year and still total rookies. The lines were a bit longer and after I got out of the restroom with the classic 1970's drive-in movie urinal I found them dutifully standing at the back. I said that's not how to do it, you find the person with the coolest shirt and chat them up and go in. Then looking at my vintage Spice Girls 1998 "Too Much" single cover and said "and that person is me." Then someone got in line behind me with a Urinals shirt and realized this was the right spot in line. I actually got to say Urinal twice in different contexts in the space of 2 minutes. But lines are usually voluntary based on the honor system. If you really gotta get in now, you can go right to the front if you are nice about it.

I took the time to track this one out mainly to see if there is anything I am better off cutting out but I am going to put it up as is.

What can I say about Siouxsie. The bulk of my experience was transferring my friend's tapes. And a lot of this scene in the 1980's everybody seemed to be trying too hard. Trade 2 layers of pancake batter, a layer of black and add a double dose of elegance and grace and you have Siouxsie 2023. I was able to absorb the longing and desire of the people around me to fully enjoy the experience. Unfortunately I was also absorbing the bad convo and had to find a different spot.

Can't wait to see how I pull this off next year! Who's playing? Who cares.
