This is in fact the debut...

I am going to try to reseed the whole archive this year, 250 something volumes of seminal New York punk, rock, and no wave.

Anything with reel to reel in the lineage is probably mono.

All the commentary was done as I heard this stuff for the first time. Tapes were marked with only artist, date, venue so I'd constantly be blown away by this guest or that song played.

The cdr I received had a note saying "Debut? I think so." I looked at the first lp and it not only says it was recorded in April 1977, but that Link Wray joined mid-sessions which would seem to confirm that this is the debut performance of Gordon & Wray. The SQ is pretty excellent (with a little bit of distortion on trk 5). Also, producer Richard Gottehrer is actually in the band here. When Gordon does the band intros he mentions that Link has already introduced them. That is not on this recording so the band must have played some before Gordon came out. Either way, hi, this kills.
