Inside the 20TB Drive

I don't even like Elvis Costello. Got them for a friend who never figured out digital media himself. First on the chopping block. If anyone has any ideas for an easy to use program that scans folders and make lists please let me know. Of course I would post the lists here and just ignore any requests.

I should also take pictures of this place. Just so you can see the kind of clutter if not squalor and havoc this hobby has wreaked on my personal living space. Still better this than joining some sports cult or playing with Star Wars toys.

  2. A small program called Cathy that scans drives and makes list, and helps you quickly find location of certain shows (that I have been using for the last 7 years) can be found here:
http://rva.mtg.sk//, scroll down to the middle of the page. Many traders that I know use it. If you have tons of stuff on multiple drives, you must have a program like this (there are some other ones out there). But you should be disciplined in naming bands and shows in certain way. For example: Aerosmith 2024-01-01 Boston. If you always use the same date convention than searching is easy. If you don't stick to it you can search using * for missing or uncertain info:
Aerosmith*Boston (lists all shows by Aerosmith in Boston), or Aerosmith*2024 (lists all Aerosmith shows from 2024. It is important that in Settings you set Hit Limit at 5,000.

    1. "Everything" is an excellent piece of software indeed.
You can download it here: https://www.voidtools.com/downloads/
The best version is the "Lite-Setup" one.

  6. Someone else mentioned it, but I'll also recommend Karen's Directory Printer.

  7. From: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-ways-to-print-folder-and-directory-contents-in-windows/

    Command DOS
This is one of many important command-line commands that are easy to remember and easy to perform. Here's how you can get started with it:

    1. Go to the Start menu search bar, type in 'command prompt,' and run the Command prompt as an administrator.

    2. Use the cd command to navigate to the directory you want to print. For example, to navigate to your Documents folder, you would input cd C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents, switching out yourusename for your own.

    3. Type dir > print.txt, then press Enter and exit the Command Prompt.

    4. In File Explorer, navigate to the same folder, and you should see a print.txt file. This is a plain text file that can be opened in Notepad (or any other text editor) and then printed.
