I had to forgo the event shirt in lieu of getting a good spot and still looking for one. Or several as lots of people put in requests.

There are 2 versions of the same transfer but this one is mine. I made a slight correction to the info file / attributions with track 15, as the backing band may be most of Hanoi Revisited, it was a Dave Lindholm song and Andy McCoy was not present.

* * *

Still probably the single greatest day of my life. Wish I could find some way to replicate it. Kinda why I am not too worried about the future may hold. Even though life is still pretty good, it's been on a slight downward trajectory ever since.

In case you are new here ... Hanoi Rocks, one of music history's significant tragedies, with all original members announced a reunion as part of Michael Monroe's 60th birthday celebration and career retrospective. First time since 1982. Razzle, sadly more of a footnote in Motley Crue's story, was a mid career replacement yet still became such an integral part of the band they could not carry on without him. They were added with 16 days notice. There was just no way I could let this opportunity pass. I even had to interrupt one already planned vacation (the Aerosmith Las Vegas residency) to make this happen.

I really wish I could write more but it's one of those unique situations that I am just so in awe of it and what I was able to witness and accomplish.

Some random memories. The night before I was in line at the store. Someone in front of me, obviously riding a slight buzz turned around and said something to me in the native language. I said "I only speak English, I am here from America to see the Hanoi Rocks reunion tomorrow."

He was waiting for me outside. You mean to tell me you flew all the way here? They were never even that popular here. He would talk a bit then mid sentence the words would be overcome by a deep rumbling belly laugh. It was just so incomprehensible to him that someone would fly around the world to see some mid level / low level band decades in the rearview mirror. In fact there were a lot of people who traveled including someone I met on the train from Seattle.

The next day in line most of the early birds were teenagers. Apparently Michael Monroe had gathered some mainstream recognition on The Voice Of Finland, the local incarnation of the popular singing show. As several of them told it, their musical tastes mirrored those of kids everywhere. Rap. He was not only their introduction to what should of been one of the great bands of our time but to Rock 'N' Roll itself.

I really wish I could have gone back on a similar timeline as it was such a beautiful city but it was also getting colder by a few degrees every day.

  1. I put up the raw wav for free sitting outside the 24 hour supermarket with WiFi as soon as I got out of there. Someone should hook me up with these "rare trade" items for free in return
