See You Friday

I meant to post a next post Friday days ago.

Real slow on transfers and Vegas Anonymous is on hiatus. I almost went to the Linkin Park show tonight. I don't think I ever heard a single song but I like Emily Armstrong. Tickets were crashing hard, could have got in for $40 easy but found out it was already being covered by multiple people who have me outgunned on microphones and probably seat location.

I will at least have some mystery drive stuff I found that didn't have info files and turns out was never posted. Whatever else I can finish I will write up the info files and post. Spending a lot of time cleaning up old raw files on the HD and figuring out what they are and opening act / spoken word stuff I just wanna process out of the pending folder into completed stuff and backing up more of that stuff to DVD - worst format but only marginally more secure than HD only.

  1. I believe Blu-ray discs are safer than DVDs. I have a Pioneer Blu-ray writer and use Verbatim discs to backup stuff. And I found a cheap realiable cloud service with FTP (Hetzner Storage Box). And I know you didn't consider the idea in the past, but maybe think of giving us the opportunity to donate for cloud storage space.

    1. I never got into Blu Ray only because it's a much higher cost and DVD in general is such a shitty format. I might go back but I am in no way going at the level I was the past few years. As far as I am concerned I transfer the recording, put it up and it's up to others to redistribute, or not. I don't wanna run it as an on demand site even for donors. Also really want anything financial to be above ground and documented for tax reasons. I had some serious IRS troubles a few years, not evasion but so overwhelmed with no idea what I was doing and just making the money consumed nearly every waking moment.

    2. Totally agree with you on now wanting to be an on-demant uploading service. The only issue is that people here don't write to thank you and others have no idea who downloaded what. For instance, I download most of the Aerosmith stuff you post, but even I missed some stuff (I wrote about it in the Aerosmith dedicated post). And I would gladly redistribute what I got from you, but I don't know how others can ask me for stuff or how I can get in touch with other people that downloaded concerts I am interested in. Bottom line: we, the people that downloaded from you, need to figure out a way to get in touch with each other for redistribution. And that would take a load off your mind regarding re-uploading stuff...

    3. I've tried to refer people to ask on the G101 request board in spite of it being a total garbage site with dickwad mods. Also I am just so buried under content that the who and what matters a lot less than it did in the tape trading days.

    4. I've requested a few shows on G101 and got no replies. I've even tried contacting mediaaddict, who's uploaded tons there, to no avail. G101 looks like a total leeching forum. I'm thinking of building a blog myself, to give back what I've gathered over the years, but it'll only be Aerosmith-related (Joe Perry, Hollywood Vampires, Steven Tyler etc.).

    5. I am fine with leeching as some people just wanna listen without being forced to participate and I am fine with that. Even if I am pretty much limiting now my participation where the assistance of others is required to keep them available whether it be torrents, G101, personal blogs, whatever. But everything is just as disjointed as it was in the tape trading days if a bit easier to find. That would be a great idea though. We need a more visible platform concentrating on Aerosmith only even if to shake loose some new shows.

    6. I've had the domain name for the project for a while now, but I guess I'm just lazy. I will be woking on the website this weekend and maybe have something up by the end of next week. Your positive energy is inspiring, I needed a nudge to get me started :) By the way, are you planning on adding more Aerosmith shows to that folder? Cheers!

    7. Eventually, I just have to delete another folder to make room. Also I tend to not want to post stuff I haven't actually listened to since just brokering shows back and forth ... I don't consider it a good use of my time but I might still fill some of those request anyway even if I am kind of Aerosmithed out.

  2. Thanks for all of your sharing! I also wanted to say I cannot stand the mods at G101.
