A few quick notes til Friday
I got thru enough this weekend and only went to a fraction of planned events that I can say there should be a bit more new music Friday.
And as a reminder, in most cases this is the first and last time anything is ever posted and I claim no rights so feel free to share on torrent sites, blogs, Facebook etc. If you need share ratio assistance or cred this is a free gift to you. I do sometimes post on Sharemania.us but it's very popcentric. But it's really a reflection of it's user base.
We are going to lose electricity for a bit of the day as they are replacing power lines so I might have to go out and get some exercise or something.
Working on Episode 12 during the anniversary of the pivotal week of June 19-25 1999 and not sure how much I wanna actually talk about that. That was the week the Ramainz played in LA but I will say at least something.
Otherwise not sure why I am plowing forward. The station has less than 10 listeners and I only caught an episode playing like 3 times and don't get accurate times so I can't even promote. My girlfriend is encouraging me and I burn her CD's for her car CD player. I think she just wants to hear me talk about concerts wherever she is.
Been smoking myself into a total stupor just about every day since early May after a brief break but going to try to chill on that for at least a week or so. Maybe when I start to go a little manic I can try to harness that brain power.
That's what happened in 2014 when I just bumbled into the ticket biz. No marijuana was involved (Other than a sporadic relapse in 2009/2010 I was clean for 13 years til lockdown) but I messing around with Noortropics which kicked my brain into overdrive after years in a kind of fog. In just a few weeks I completely reoriented my obsessive compulsive disorder in a totally different direction and I was able to learn and earn as I go. Even when the effects faded I was totally entrenched in an entirely different life and frame of mind.
I keep hoping for some sort of similar breakthrough. Otherwise I will just go broke and be in my 50's with a 10th grade education and no job skills. But then I browse the local death lists and it's almost all 50's. I would feel pretty silly if I were forcing myself to go to some McJob I hate only to just drop dead with money in the bank.
I really need some easy work at home in front of my computer job where I can still listen to music or even work on recordings with one eye and both ears. During the 2014 to 2020 days after the morning onsale rush I would open Soundforge and consider that my real job.
Whatever it is it's not going to be tickets. According to the broker community, there has been a significant dropoff in sales in the last 60-90 days. Some are blaming all in pricing requirements and customers have to be properly acclimated. I don't think so. I think the dropoff is likely across the board in primary markets too. In the minds of the average consumer there is only 1 ticket market. And average ticket price dipped by 6% since last year. That doesn't happen if sales are increasing. Look for waves of discounts where possible and cancellations coming up.
Also thinking of just restricting myself to free shows only until what's going to be a fortune depleting September. There are a lot of free shows in the summertime.
So unless anything significant turns up I will see you on Friday.
