Random Babbling

I am still alive and only appear to be inactive. 

I was hoping to post this last week

"Surprise, I might have some transfers for you Friday."

But going at a glacial pace. I have loads of just partially completed shows and mainly just a few DNA Lounge sets. Maybe I will put just those up if I can at least write the info files. Otherwise a new music Friday may eventually return if not every Friday but also not forever. 

Started working on masters and Vegas Anonymous again. After several months of nothing I got around 30GB of raw masters of his last few months captures. Some I might be willing to outsource and a few I definitely wanna play thru. Even more random than my captures but most of the bands he likes don't hit Vegas and he can't swing any LA trips right now so we're stuck with what he can get to there. Once I figure out what I wanna do I might put the rest up for others to tackle. But that won't last long as not interested in brokering recordings I have no intention of listening to. 

No doubt about it, I am disengaging though. Now I just wanna listen to what I like and really try to orient my obsession toward something that will actually make me money and enjoy at the same time. Tickets are a drag and in spite of the constant drumbeat in the media and endless whining on the fan sites, it's really hard to make money. At least compared to 2014 to 2020/2021. Would like to be somehow "involved" in podcasting but don't really see myself recording and producing anything. It's just something that makes walking and bus rides tolerable and I enjoy the medium. 

I used to be walking thru the hills thinking "I can do this." Except I don't think I can. 

I was still working on the program for Past Lives Radio but nothing came close or was as satisfying as the first episode and Coachella episode and now it's a chore. Apparently they were still being played but I never get the times right and never catch them. The last several I would just scramble and throw something together last minute but I do have 2 more completed included May recaps with stories and music and those should be a little bit better than Episode 8 which I would rank 8th. 

LA unrest? Saturday and Sunday I was between a few different areas of downtown with no signs of anything amiss until Sunday afternoon when my mom texted asking if California was under martial law. 

Then Tuesday I went downtown closer to the hotspot for a movie called The Life Of Sean Delear which was to culminate in a live performance by Imperial Teen. I was on the bus a mile away when I got notice of downtown curfew. Got to theatre just as they were kicking everyone out. Now that was a show I was looking forward to and was scrambling to make it in time for the movie. As if it wasn't bad enough that Nazareth and Molly Hatchet canceled there.

So if you think California is on fire turn off the TV and go get some exercise. And unless you live outside the U.S. borders your state probably still has a higher crime rate. 

Been smoking way too much weed again after a short layoff and I am sure that's affecting everything. The good news is when I stop again I should get another mental bump and hopefully I can focus on something. It's tough because in spite of having a girlfriend, I spend most of my time alone or with the cat and just running laps in my head.  

I am still afflicted with FOMOCD but really only feel fulfilled by stuff like BETX Fan Fest mainly for people watching and this is getting increasingly painful both to the body and the wallet.  

My former roommate's cat I have been fostering since 2023 is sneezing and I think I heard him cough once. He just rarely took his cats to the vet and likely can't swing it now so that will likely cut into my summer concerts anyway. He just turned 10. I am the one who found him when he was crying outside my door. I gotta get with it and break the intertia now because though my roommate can take him back at any time I don't think I can live without him. Just finding a vet is a pain. 

Activity in the unapproved comments seem to be dying down, only 326 there but in case you haven't figured it out, I rarely look or acknowledge. I did have a lot of stuff up for a year, posted a last call when the links were expiring and tag everything with LIMITED TIME / LAST TIME because it will never be posted again.

Had some fun with this during lockdown and the following years in getting the mystery drive contents out there and whatever else was just a fringe benefit to clue you in to what I like and am listening to. If me, David, D and Vegas Anonymous didn't record it that means I downloaded it somewhere so it's out there. I never had any intention of running this is as an on demand site. We have Guitars101 and the various Facebook groups for that.  

I can't figure out to sticky posts to the top here or else I would have that up all along.

Can't offer to fill any drives right now but maybe I can be talked into ditching the 500 or so data DVD's of FM broadcasts I have and gave up trying to keep up with.

I might just say screw the historical record and start deleting posts with dead links. I can hire Filipino IT help pretty cheap but I don't want to sink any more money into this, affect any non download blog posts and think at least some of the historical record should be preserved. Or anyone can help draw attention to posts that need to be deleted by posting a repost request. Already had to turn off Dime PM's because I got sick of dealing with that even to the point that I am freezing out stuff like ticket offers and the like but not really into those unless it's something I am already going to. 

Though there is almost zero satisfaction and engagement I will keep doing the program for at least a few more episodes. If anything were to happen to me in the near future, those episodes would be a far better legacy for friends and family than a bunch of hard drives my heirs wouldn't know what to do with especially if they opened the porn drive first.

Inevitable death process aside at least I have time and some savings even if I am mostly squandering it still.
