Notes: Crowded House had announced an outdoor tour of wineries and large outdoor venues around regional Australia throughout October through to early December, then after they mostly sold out, added some additional "pop-up" shows in indoor venues, stretching all the way from Cairns down to Hobart. 2 of these pop up shows were to take place at the esteemed Palais Theatre in St Kilda, "the spiritual home of Crowded House", in Neil's words. It's a rare treat to see Crowded House in a theatre in Australia - these days in Melbourne it's either the huge Rod Laver Arena or Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and tickets for these shows were quickly snapped up. These pop up shows featured 2 sets, one acoustic and one electric, with the band essentially supporting itself. A number of new unreleased songs featured, with one making its live debut, called It Was A Small Detail. The vocal talents of Vika and Linda Bull also featured on a number of songs, including the new ones. They are touring with Mark Seymour as part of the Red Hot Summer Tour Crowded House are headlining, and were very welcome additions. A terrific show, but what else do you expect from this legendary band?

Recording notes: I was dead centre half way back in the theatre, and it was clearly the sweet spot, this is a great sounding recording. A few photos I took are also included. Enjoy!
