SBD
It's been 3,5 years since my last upload.
Santana overkill? Perhaps.
My Santana fetisj has become less and less during the last couple of years, mainly because of the
the musical direction Carlos has decided to choose. Very very mediocre with the album Power of Peace, with the
Isley Brothers as an absolute deep.....
And not to speak of the high rate of the predictability of the live shows.
But when I came across a SBD of April's Budokan (a historical venue for Santana) I thought I'd share it here.
In fact....not much new here. Two tracks from the Isley album, a very weird cover of Enya's Orinoco Flow
(why on earth did they do that), while Kate/Rain/La Jean is a nice piano/bass interplay with a heavy guitar ending.
The band has been stripped down a bit but in classics like Toussaint, Incident, Jingo and BMW/GQ still tight as hell.
The way A Love Supreme is played appeals to me far more than in the past.
Great to hear some teases of Every Step of the Way in She's not there. When I look into your eyes is, as on the album
embedded in the last part of Are you ready people.
As a bonus I've also added the soundcheck of the show and some scans of the artwork.
