Show Notes:
Having hit 8 shows in 9 days (and this was 9 of 10) in 4 states, this pale, pallid Alaskan was not ready or prepared for the 90+ degree temps for Welcome To Rockville, so I sat in my hotel until 8:30, then hauled ass to the venue, got a parking spot right across the street, was in the venue 15 minutes before Soundgarden hit the stage, and was out of there on the road 10 minutes after the show was over. What I'm trying to say is no, I did *not* tape any of the other acts that day.

Another reason, besides the punishing all-day heat (it averaged 95 F on the way up, a tiny bit cooler by the coast), I've seen and taped pretty much every other main-mainstage act (APC in '99 San Diego, Offspring last year in Anchorage, Mastodon in '11 in St. Louis, Coheed & Cambria in '12 in Memphis, etc...). The only ones I were curious about (Eagles Of Death Metal, The Pretty Reckless, Highly Suspect, Dinosaur Pile-Up) were too early in the day and either I already taped them (Highly Suspect in Tampa on the 27th), am going to tape them (Pretty Reckless on May 3rd, Dinosaur Pile-Up on May 2nd), or I think they pretty much suck anyways (EODM).

Oh yeah...Soundgarden.

OUTdoors.

NO echo.

It *was* windy, blowing HARD from the south/east (just watch the yootoob vids to see what I mean), so based on what you *see*, you'd think it'd basically be fucked, audio-wise (I don't own windscreens). Based on that (sizing up the situation), I stood to the immediate right of the ***tented*** soundboard, with pretty much fantastic results. I was up against the right side of the soundboard railing (like, literally holding myself up with the bar due to the fatigue). Minimal crowd noise (I heard more plastic bottles getting stepped on/kicked when people were leaving - just listen to the last track) than I heard people screaming nearby.

As for Soundgarden themselves, this show was a bit more subdued than Tampa 2 nights earlier, setlist wise, but performance and mix-wise, I was pretty happy with it (other than the occasional wind gusts). The only thing to mention: you *know* it's a good SG show when you get "Jesus Christ Pose" and "Rusty Cage" back-to-back.

He's not very rusty, or even mahogany, for that matter. His name is Dennis, and he takes his TIME to create these torrents for your listening pleasure. Throw him a "thanks Dennis". It doesn't hurt, I promise.

Save all your bile and vitriol for me, my thick skin and wide shoulders can take it.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand there is more to come (yes, including unreleased *older* Soundgarden shows).
