Show Notes:
It has always been a 'dream' of mine to follow Soundgarden around for a bit. And I could not have asked for a better opening. For the first show of the tour, they were TIGHT (just listen to "My Wave"/"The Day I Tried To Live"/"Jesus Christ Pose", for starters). The die-hards were treated to the nugget "Kyle Petty, Son Of Richard", and they hammered out a rock-solid 15 song festival set. Sadly, the crowd was not up to snuff (all the young 'uns were there for the earlier bands, and the oldheads stayed for Soundgarden), there might have been 3,000 in the arena at the end of the show (and that's being generous). All that said, SG didn't play down to the crowd, but instead pulled them up. The mix of old chestnuts sprinkled amongst the hits (for example, "All Your Lies" was just BRUTAL, in the good sense) has my hackles raised and, dare I say, I might be *excited* for something for once in my life. Or something like that.

He don't pose like Jesus Christ, but he sure brings you folks the fish and bread. His name is Dennis. He deserves the praise. I'm just here to fuck with people and chew bubblegum...and I'm all out of bubblegum.

You know the drill...
