This is a remaster of a MASTER TAPE
Recorded by Steve Latham, evening show transferred in MP3 unfortunately, full lineage unknown.

Steveboy Note - I contacted the taper after he posted in a facebook Bowie group that he had recorded this show, I sent him a PM and told him I would love to hear it no matter how bad it was, he had stated that the recording was not that good, you know that doesn't matter to me!!!! Anyway after a few days he contacted me and said he had done a digital copy. I had to advise how to send it to me, how surprised I was when I heard it, it was not that bad. Learm has now added his magic to it and here it is.


Processing:
MP3 file -> transfer to Soundforge Audio Cleaning Lab -> remaster/edit -> FLAC (44,1 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo) -> bowiestation

The recording consists of one file which has a major cut at approx. 40 minutes between The Jean Genie and Time. Time cuts in. There is a difference in sound between these 2 parts.
Part1 has a slightly better sound and the 2 channels are more balanced. Part2 has a higher volume where the right channel is much louder than the left one. Also there is some distortion and higher hiss than at part1.
I balanced the channels of the 2 parts and made some EQ as the original sound was a bit dull. Also I removed some gaps. The result is quite good and listenable. There are some smaller cuts at the intro and the start of The Jean Genie. After Round And Round there are some seconds of the outro before it fades out.

NOTES FROM THE TAPER - S Latham
It was recorded on a little portable Philips cassette recorder, hanging from my neck with the leather strap and I had the microphone running own the inside of my right arm. I started recording as soon as the glitter ball descended and the opening music (from Clockwork Orange) played. It seemed to go on for ages so I switched it off and then put it back on as it seemed the concert was about to start. It was tricky to do as it was a C90 tape so I had to eject it after 45 minutes but then turn it over, hopefully not putting the same side back in, then press the record and play button together. All this was done underneath my coat without being being able to see what I was doing! I'd practised at home to make sure.
Yes, he performed two shows but I chose the later concert. While waiting in the queue, a friend came past who had just been into the earlier concert and she said that Bowie had walked off stage as there had been some problems. I think a piano had collapsed but whatever, he hadn't been very happy.


This is a fantastic new find in listenable quality. Especially it is great to have the taper's comments. Enjoy!

My Want List

it's been awhile, write to ijwthstd AT yahoo DOT com if you can help     **ETERNAL WANT LIST**  (Nothing added since Dec 25 post, just bumping to the top for new users) In this total media universe with everything at my fingertips, individual shows have taken on a lot less importance, however I still want to get my eyes and ears on these. This was copied off a much older list where I deleted several found titles so it's not impossible I'd say I have plenty to trade but I stopped withholding stuff for those purposes years ago. I can always offer up the super secret Mystery Drive list of my friend's rare masters (1971 to 2017) and pull something from there. Really one of the only things I am hoarding is that list only to preserve my sanity. Remember your hoarded recordings are only worth something while there are still people alive who care. I Commited An Offense That Results in a 3 month Pixeldrain suspension

Yet it still seems to work. Basically found a file on Sharemania from some ridiculous overrated act I don't even like and won't name from Coachella then reuploaded for a friend who was looking for it but could or would not navigate the original site it was on.  Though I renamed it wedding video it was still pulled immediately and I was told it would result in a 3 month ban from uploading and my IP address would shared with the rights holder. Oops. Of all the aspects of my life requiring extensive troubleshooting, finding a new provider that will keep the files as long as Pixeldrain isn't one of them. So if that happens, it will likely just result in a 3 month hiatus. Any possible legal action? Likely not survivable but we all know this level of passion and involvement comes with it's own risks.
