Playboy Jazz Festival 1997 FM broadcast with John Lee Hooker, Bruce Hornsby, Gato Barbieri, Roy Hargrove & Cristal, Joe Henderson Big Band, Mike Holober Quintet, Elvin Jones & Jazz Machine, The Meeting, Thelonious Monk Institute Jazz Ambassadors)

LIMITED TIME / LAST TIME

this was the KJAZZ 4th of July broadcast of the Playboy Jazz Festival

I was using old re-used DAT tapes and recording on the ends of tapes in LP. Etta James was never playable (too much diginoise) so I need that if it ever turns up. Other than John Lee Hooker I only transferred and figured out this stuff in the last few years.

  1. Don't suppose you have the 1986 festival stashed away somewhere? Would love to hear again Nina Simone lecturing the audience during her set and B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

  2. I've got a couple of DATs worth I recorded in LP mode. I listened to (copied) the Hornsby set and Hooker set back in the day. Pretty sue I have Etta set but don't know how playable it is.
