New Stuff on Friday / please stop leaving repost requests
There should be new transfers by Friday. Have loads of almost completed projects but stacking my list by date has made me just want to listen to older shows. When the choice is The Who or whoever, The Who will almost always win. Vegas Anonymous apparently doesn't want to send me anymore stuff and I am committed to going to less shows in 2026 so the pool will grow smaller and more manageable.
I have been tinkering with a long rambling "update" post but most has been discarded. The gist of it is please stop leaving repost requests. I don't even read the unapproved comments (more than 2 weeks old). Last calls were posted when the links were about to expire. Anything now has a last call by default embedded in the post. There are 382 requests and it's just not possible to accommodate. There is now a purge in effect. I am completely out of storage space.
I thought about holding the requests hostage to crowdfund a new hard drive and some projects (Database of all LA shows / guide to buying tickets) but I would rather not hassle it or deal with any possible resulting fallout. Not to mention I don't *need* a hard drive when I can just clear out the stuff I will never listen to and don't want the responsibility of being the custodian for all recorded music. There are plenty of spots out there running as on demand sites, if you can't get it here, just assume it's gone.
Much appreciated that you even take the time to do all this in the first place
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job. You don't have to hold on to everything, especially if you're never going to listen to it. I wouldn't feel any sort of guilt about freeing up space on your hard drives for things that interest you. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteReally enjoy all your posts and shares, thank you!
ReplyDeletei request old brian jonestown massacre shows
ReplyDeleteAppreciate all you do here, especially in regard to The Who. I have an incomplete version of the 12/15/79 Who show in New Haven, but wondered whether you have a better copy in the works. There's a full-show recording on YouTube, but it's 2+ hours and thus not downloadable. Thanks.

DeleteAwesome, thanks for The Who! Going to try to play that one today.
DeleteThank you very much for all your hard work to give us all the great live recordings. So disappointing that Vegas Anonymous is pulling back! Being a Vegas resident, I'll miss out on those recordings. I may have to step up and give you some of my recordings, but I only have one show booked so far for 2026 - Steve Via and Joe Satriani. Thanks again!
ReplyDeletePop em up on the cave man

LETS SEE HIM ON FRIDAY FOR NEW POSTS!
What do you think about making a periodic post (weekly or monthly) whose purpose is for readers to post and respond to repost requests in the comments (you wouldn't do any reposts, only us)? Personally, I'd be happy to reshare recordings I've gotten here, if the requests were all in one place where I could easily see them.
ReplyDeleteAnyone can post anything they want aside from porn / animal cruelty / partisan political content (mild exceptions for Ted Nugent have been allowed). I was thinking of blowing it wide open with optional donations of $1 per show to my pet project / 50 cents in bulk and mandatory for multiple requests, but one where I was hoping to advance a co-writer $500-1000 (for what could be a few days work or a few hours for 50% of the project) just imploded so I am glad I didn't suffer the blowback for it and not deliver the product.
DeleteThe other is a database of all Southern California concerts, at least til 1999 and also use it as a platform to aggressively solicit lost recordings because the real gold can now only be mined outside the trading community. I spend $150 a year on Newspapers DOT com which is a pittance I pay to freely go down deeper rabbit holes but web hosting, educating myself or paying third parties and of course it would be a full time job.
Otherwise there is also a request forum on G101 and multiple upon multiple Facebook groups. But starting a thread is a better idea than me almost posting "Report Dead Links" here and then delete the original posts as they are reported.
I do have a random 15GB on Google drive now which I like because I can just drag and drop instead of zip.
