Ditching The Blog In Favor A Weekly Radio Program

April Fool's ... NOT
It's been offered and it's being considered. Had no plans to say anything to anyone but figured today might be a good day to mention it.
May not have time or feel it's appropriate to do both since the program will follow a similar theme. And what radio host would field calls like "can you play Stairway To Heaven and send me Led Zeppelin IV"
Also in spite of messages to the contrary I feel it's not appropriate to monetize the blog and seek sponsorship, even "Buy Me A Coffee" and the one thing I would want you to if you offered me a drink at or before show is to buy me a coffee. But it is appropriate to monetize and seek sponsorship for a radio program. Which would go towards some of the same equipment dedicated to preserving history.
Yeah, I know no one listens to the radio anymore. Which is fine with me because I don't like the way I sound.
We'll see.
(If you use the comments feature here to make repost requests for shows that were up for a year with last call warnings you probably don't understand what might be happening here)
i still love radio (in those few niches where it's still worthwhile) i'd welcome a show by you any day. your wealth of musical history/preservation and experiences would make it interesting to a large and varied audience.

Dan's Bootleg Hour.
ReplyDeleteIt could be a weekly show, broadcast nationally on radio, like Westwood One, or King Bisquick (yes, I meant it that way, lol).
Then all archived shows could be uploaded to your youtube channel.
Do it. You MUST. ;-)
Radio was always worthwhile, same as books - after all, as well as a vast boot discography, tales of escapades & meetings with famous deceased people in strange circumstances could be told...
ReplyDeleteYour travel and venue stories are interesting reads. Seeing crazy people in and around the bus. Dead Heads do a similar thing on blogs. They play an entire show and stop in between to talk about certain tracks and what was going on tha day. They would have a download link to the show and to the show with commentary. A lot of those blogs now ask you to make an account. Probably a lot of takers and not as much conversation happening.
