Beyonce @ SoFi Stadium 2025-04-28 (raw wav)

https://pixeldrain.com/u/Q8AwQwHx Heard all about the cheap tickets tho I don't think I ever heard a Beyonce song. Paid $30 outside. Lots of ladies in tight jeans and cowboy hats to only be worn once Got the idea of maybe buying some and returning to sell at the next show. Got a free one. The show was alright but a bit too long, Doubt I will ever listen again. Do what you want with it. If I include in a future episode it gets maybe 60 seconds and a few samples I fell asleep on E line and woke up deep inside of East LA by the 710. Return train stopped running and of course being a cheap date I wouldn't consider ride share. Had to walk a few blocks to find an all night bus then walk around downtown since there was construction by my usual stop Still made it home 3am.

FIRST EPISODE Tonight

I am proud to announce Past Lives Radio is debuting the first episode of Songs And Stories From The I Just Want To Have Something To Do Archive tonight and repeating again tomorrow at At 6pm PST, 9pm EST and 1am GMT https://pastlivesradio.rocks The program may repeat and possibly get chopped up and thrown into the playlist. I've inked a deal to produce 4 shows with an option to renew. Possible additional this week in history style and theme episodes or maybe just a playlist. You can expect to hear songs by Rolling Stones, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, KISS, Nine Inch Nails, Bruce Springsteen and many more. Might even be a version of a song in there that has never seen the light of day. More details in the comments   (FIRST EPISODE WILL ALSO REPEAT IMMEDIATELY STARTING 8:20-30ish PST)

Sunday Update

I saw my first Phish show Friday. I had never even heard Phish before. I hope to have a bit of a recap soon either in text or vocal form. The first episode is ready for submission but also 2 hrs 4 mins. I gave a few ideas to cut things out or it could run but I don't think the station will have a chance to review it until later today. Hopefully the station will schedule a few plays as they don't have much original material yet. It's basically the overall theme of this blog translated into podcast / radio format. I don't feel it's quite complete but decided to just consider it done and move on to the next one. It's very much learn as I go so I decided to just fix any issues on future episodes should the channel want them. Had a list of things to listen to but I just can't make the time now. How things go in the next few weeks dictates my future course. Just remember most masters and mystery drive selections were posted at least once and many twice and the res...

Friday Update

Listening to a nice selection of anniversary offerings but who know how much I will get to before the working day is done. And in case the previous hints aren't strong enough I might be over it. I worked 100 hours plus and still less than half done with the first episode. I was hoping to have at least one transfer ready but it's just not gonna happen. It was Powerman 5000 so maybe you aren't missing out on much. My friend gave me a Blue Yeti mic. It works with windows voice recorder but I still have to figure out to get Soundforge to recognize it and capture the recording but hope to troubleshoot this weekend. So I am going into the A-10, so I have to keep unplugging the mic, importing the file into the computer and maybe re-recording which is very redundant and time consuming. I still don't even know if this a demo or the final take. Also wish I had someone with writing and possibly experience here with me to help me tighten up some dialog and also go thru a 5 page s...

Today's Anniversaries On Past Lives Radio

The past few days I just haven't had time to work on transfers or listen to any anniversaries on my list. However Past Lives Radio has a nice collection currently broadcasting. I hear the station may soon be expanding it's offerings too.   https://pastlivesradio.rocks/

West, Bruce & Laing @ Cleveland, OH 1972-04-21

LIMITED TIME / LAST TIME This one is bass heavy even louder than guitar but it's not overloaded and it's okay to play louder than Leslie West when you are Jack Bruce on bass. They were a late add on the Scorpions tour when the headline tour just wasn't selling tickets but did not play the LA shows. It was another 2 1/2 years before they played LA again though constantly on tour. Now if anyone has Forum/Irvine 1988, Irvine 1989 or San Bernardino 1990 I would love to hear them. They were never particularly interesting again after that.   But yes, instead of working on the hundreds of pending transfers I am rockin' a marginal Great White audience recording. Some updates

Still struggling with getting the first episode or two of the radio program together. Might have had a breakthrough moment today. If I finally finish and am satisfied with the results then I will likely pause the blog or just host playlists and show notes. Will be seeking support / sponsors. Any donations coming with upload requests will be returned. But like I said, I gotta get it off the ground. I still don't even have a microphone. Just endless drafts of scripts and playlists. And figuring out how to tighten up run on sentences for speech. Spent 2 days in the sun last weekend which seriously hindered any progress for several days after. Letting that and of course the news and personal problems mentally affect me has always been one of my greatest weaknesses. I don't feel good. I have health insurance but no idea what it really is or how to use it. Guess I will find out soon enough. Could have had a subsidized AC/DC ticket but just didn't feel like I could do it. Though...

Rainbow 53rd Anniversary (clips and commentary only)

Not going to wait on when or if I have it all together to say my piece on last weekend's event so I will regurgitate some of my notes now. Michael Monroe is the greatest and least famous rock star who ever lived. A little over 40 years after his first attempt to play LA he is finally getting the respect he deserves and headlining a somewhat major event. And having seen him in small clubs all the way to the 8000 capacity Helsinki Ice Hall, the Michael Monroe show is pretty much the exact opposite of the conventional wisdom in that the bigger the stage the better the show. This album should have done for him what fate and a drunk driver prevented Hanoi Rocks from doing. One of my only fond memories from a year living in Orange County was getting KNAC and hearing these songs on the radio, Man With No Eyes being one of my favorites. I also remember being on the bus to a casino in Gardena in late 2004 and seeing Hanoi Rocks at the Key Club in the LA Weekly. I was trembling and even co...

Pat Metheny With Romero Lubambo @ Disney Hall 2010-04-19

My 3rd ever show was Pat Metheny Group at Irvine Meadows 1985-ish LIMITED TIME / LAST TIME Pat Metheny With Romero Lubambo Disney Hall April 19, 2010 Taper:  Scooter123 Audience Tape;  A Lineage:  Schoeps mk4 > Nbox > Edirol > Goldwave > Media Monkey This is an unusual Pat Metheny concert in three ways.  First, this is the Orchesrion Tour, where Pat plays about 100 instruments, and his guitar, at the same time.  The whole scene is quite bizzare with all this robotic controls, which reminded me of JF Sebastian in the "Blade Runner," the quiet genius who invented all the robots, also set in a futuristic Los Angeles.  The concert is also unusual because for the first, and only time, a guest star is featured in the Orchestrion Tour.  This is Romero Lubambo, a flamingo guitarist.  So when Pat and Romero start jamming (nothing was rehearsed), with the robots, it sorta sounds like Gypsy Kings on acid. Finally, this is a two hour 19 minute con...

LIMITED TIME / LAST TIME all at https://pixeldrain.com/l/5HnAaRAe It took a lot of effort to get there by 9:00am. Which ended up being 10:20 or so. Wandered in, saw a speaker and just planted myself there. Still have no idea where they put the stage. Took a few acts to get around to plugging in the mics. Pretty sure by the Dirty Projectors guy but maybe not. My information said Neil Young at 12:30. More like 1:40. Just a few minutes later and I might have been also carried out on a stretcher. Goes without saying I didn't stick around the headliner Bernie AOC, instead heading home for copious amounts of electrolytes to try and bring myself back to life in time for another show that evening. My body just can't keep up with my mind

Even if posts suggest it's my mind that is falling behind. Last night I took a 3:45 hour bus ride to Anaheim. I could have taken Metrolink but $1.75 > $10-15 or whatever. Meanwhile I am watching a price war on Tickpick between an 8 pack and a 4 pack all the way down to $23. Waiting to see how low it can go. Then it resets to $69 and maybe one more price drop before the brokers holding the tickets go to sleep and just let it ride and light 12 tickets on fire. Get there a bit after doors, which is always way too late and still gotta hunt down an espresso shot somewhere in the Riverwalk complex. I hit up people trickling in for about 90 minutes but catch up with a few friends on the way in. No bites but a few said they had extra tickets to the Whisky, which sold out immediately. A few minutes before showtime I see the unmistakable sight of Michael Monroe and his band walking up. Do I ask for photo? Do I tell him Sep 23 2022 was the greatest night of my life? No, I ask "any ext...

Just Like Heaven @ Brookside Park 2024-05-18 (Tracked versions) The Postal Service, Phoenix, Death Cab For Cutie, Passion Pit, Two Door Cinema Club, Phantogram, Tegan And Sara, Sleigh Bells, Gossip, CSS, Be Your Own Pet

https://pixeldrain.com/l/EaeEPnDL This took 11 months a song or 2 at a time. I only wanted to see CSS and Tegan And Sara and afterward only wanted to listen to CSS and Phantogram again. This replaces the untracked version posted immedately afterward. ORIGINAL NOTES my chances of finding a ride to Pappy & Harriet's was next to nil as were CSS chances of ever touring the US again so even though there was just a handful of bands I even liked or was familiar with, I decided to suck it up and go to Just Like Heaven, setting a strict $40 budget and finding ticket in the parking lot at that price immediately upon arriving. After Tegan And Sara toured Canada last month playing one of my all time favorite albums by anybody, If It Was You, this set had a whopping 1 song. Phantogram was pretty good. The rest I pretty much suffered thru as the other stage was covered by another taper so I decided to do my due diligence and get what I can. Whatever happens with that is up to him but here ...
